A Note From

Dr. "T"

First Responders have a front row seat to some of life’s most horrific events, with minimal recovery time and the guarantee that future exposure awaits. This can result in a dysregulated nervous system flooded with incoming information that shapes the way the first responder views him/herself, others, and this world. Without the biological understanding of the impact of stress, a first responder may feel isolated in his/her responses and experiences, which can lead to further distress. Healthy outlets can be limited due to trust issues and negative misconceptions about seeking help, but I am confident that a culture shift can take place. As a licensed psychologist trained in trauma- focused and cognitive behavioral therapy, I take great pride in treating individuals with respect and compassion while providing therapeutic tools that are relevant and effective. The decision to seek therapy is one that, I personally believe, reflects tremendous courage, willingness, and a desire for positive change.  With that being said, it can also be layered in anxiousness, fear of the unknown, confusion, and resistance. These feelings are completely normal. The reality is that life is challenging at times, and experiencing pain and struggle is part of what makes us human. Yet, sometimes, our efforts to cope can cause more problems for ourselves and those around us. Together, we will explore your goals, identify potential roadblocks, and take realistic and active steps towards personal success. You are deserving, and I commend you for considering therapy at this time in your life.
